You know how it goes. You're in a rush and probably late for a meeting. The lift stops. It stays stopped for a while and you begin reading the safety notices. You think, "I hate Otis". Who are those guys anyway? Is their head office really in Reading? No that can't be true. Then the man next to you says "Hi, my name's John" and you strike up a conversation. He's pretty interesting for a old timer, even amusing, then he tells you what he does "I'm a Chemist". Your eyes glaze over as he tediously explains what he does each day in the minutest of details. Dull dull dull!
He then asks you what you do. Oh shit, what do I do? I'm an ad man! That won't do, he won't get it at all. I am in marketing... no too trite. Then you remember your training at college. "The 30 second speech that explains your business when stuck in a lift with a total stranger module". This maybe the only time you will ever use it.
So go on what's your 30 second speech. Do you have one if someone asks you "What do you do for a living?". Here's ours. Maybe this will help you work yours out.
I work for a company called pgk. We're based in Harrogate and we're an ad agency. We like to create things, stick things, imagine things, draw things, write things and make things. We're just good with things. We help companies work things out. We help them realise the things they didn't even know they already knew. Their strengths and their weaknesses. If it wasn't for us the world may stop. If it did, pgk would be called to get it spinning again. Our people are fun and creative and I like them! We take the ordinary and make it extraordinary. Our customers seek our wisdom, but we don't court the limelight. Then through our services and our commitment they become our good friends, after all "we are a fantastic ad agency and proud of it".
