Harrogate mini guide
Harrogate

Harrogate

In a nutshell, a leafy, bustling, some say enchanted settling for the world's greatest agency (pgk). Best known for Betty's and blue rinses no more! Harrogate is now a hive of activity boasting a plethora of restaurants, bars, shops, nightclubs and hotels. Nestled perfectly between Lands End and John O'Groats, Harrogate is highly accessible by land air and sea, well maybe not sea. Every year thousands of tourists descend on our picturesque town to drink and bathe in her many natural springs, all in search of eternal life. They say if you look hard enough on the tree lined avenues, flower bed gardens and 200 acres of grass land there's a sprinkling of fairy dust in the air.

Hotels and restaurants

Harrogate boasts no less than 67 hotels and 91 restaurants. Whilst encouraging obesity and adultery, it also caters to just about every taste and budget. Try the Travel Lodge, smack bang in the town centre for just £65 a night. If your feeling a tad more self-indulgent then why not try Hotel Du Vin up the road where rooms start from £105 per night. When it comes to good food there is an array of options. We picked out William & Victoria and the Orchid to keep things simple. With an extensive menu, nice atmosphere and excellent-value early bird menu, the William and Victoria makes a good choice, while the Orchid, tucked away in the Studley hotel is gaining quite a reputation as one of the town's best, with an excellent Thai menu.

Bars and Nightclubs

By night Harrogate lives up to its reputation as the Vegas of Yorkshire. Glitz, glamour and debauchery in a flat cap. With a new bar seemingly popping up every month, Harrogate has everything needed to whip even the most jaded night into a frenzy. When it comes to bars, Pitcher & Piano is a firm favourite and hats off to them for enduring pgk's traditional Friday night knees up. If you fancy something a bit louder Viper Rooms should suffice. Cross the road and you're at Moko Lounge where you can reach for the lazers till 6am, if you want to let your hair down?
