pgk wins Co-op Travel...

Leading Yorkshire agency pgk, based in Harrogate , has won a major new project, carrying out above and below the line work for The Co-operative Travel. pgk pitched against some of the UK ’s best known agencies, including BIG Communications, BDH, Home Communications and Fourninety, to win the £800k project. pgk will work alongside McCann Erikson, the Co-operative’s brand agency, to help position The Co-operative Travel on the high street, persuading customers to come into the group’s 601 retails outlets, rather than book a holiday online.

It is no small task considering the fierce competition on the high street and that online retailing surged ahead; with an annual consumer spend increasing by over 33% last year. However, The Co-operative Travel and pgk believe they have the right communications campaign to make people realise the important of face to face consultations from knowledgeable staff working for a trusted, and more importantly, independent travel agent.

pgk won the pitch because of its creative execution, unusual and impactful media proposals and targeted hard hitting PR campaign.  The Co-operative Travel wanted the campaign to deliver creative thinking and longevity with a memorable strapline, as well as an understanding of working with the Co-op Trade Travel Group.

Patrick Allen, head of marketing for United Co-operatives said: “We are delighted with the work pgk presented and the high level of creativity, which contributed greatly to the clarity and usability of the campaigns. We look forward to working with pgk.”

pgk’s managing director, Karl Rahmani, is thrilled to have won such an important account, and against so many well-known and respected agencies. “It really puts pgk on the map in terms of our capabilities and creative thinking.  We’ve been working hard for many years to establish ourselves as a credible retail agency delivering both high-volume and niche retail campaigns across the UK.  I’m pleased to say our hard work is paying off, and we now find ourselves on the roster for many national pitches.”

Founded in 1994, pgk has become one of Yorkshire’s premier full service advertising, marketing, PR and creative agencies.  The company handles all elements of the communications mix covering branding, press, radio, TV, outdoor advertising, public relations, direct marketing, internet and print for automotive, gambling, fashion, health and leisure clients.

pgk’s head of PR, Sarah Heron, said: “Our sole reason for existence is to boost our client’s business. Our proven track record in retail has ensured that the agency has built up an impressive client list, which now includes many national companies. Happily, we’re helping to prove that clients don’t have to look to London, or even Leeds, to find a good communications agency.” For further details go to www.pgkadvertising.co.uk, or call Karl Rahmani on 01423 523000.
